With a beautiful series of events, the UC Davis Energy Efficiency Center honored one of its greatest mentors and advisors, Arthur H. Rosenfeld. Nicknamed appropriately “The Father of Energy Efficiency”, Art create a legacy of technology, policy and people in California, the nation and the world. The events included a Symposium and Reception, attended by the brightest and most innovative minds of the energy field. These events were followed by a Celebratory Dinner, which was held to acknowledge major donors contributing to an endowment that will establish Arthur H. Rosenfeld Endowed Chair in Energy Efficiency at UC Davis.
It was a true marathon for the EEC staff, and all the 500+ attendees; but following Art’s tradition, time was used efficiently. Notable guests among many were Susan Kennedy, Chief of Staff, Office of Governor Schwarzenegger; Assemblymember Nancy Skinner, Chair, Natural Resources Committee; Cathy Zoi, Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy in the Department of Energy, Michael Peevey, President of the CA Public Utilities Commission, Karen Douglas, Chair of the CA Energy Commission, and many more. Additionally, the scientific unit of measurement “Rosenfeld” was unveiled, and several resolutions were presented to honor Art’s legacy.
