Bryan is a UC Davis Ph.D. student in geography, with a research focus on international development and distributed energy systems. Working in the UC Davis Program for International Energy Technologies, Bryan's core project is the SMART Light, a solar-powered LED light designed to compete with kerosene and candles in Zambia. Locally, he is working on a CITRIS-funded smart grid project aiming to connect energy systems at UC Davis, Berkeley, Santa Cruz and Merced.
Outside of the university, Bryan works with Yolo County and PG&E to develop and promote energy efficiency measures through the new Yolo Energy Watch program. Bryan comes from a background in marketing, project management, online applications and user interface design, and when he's not on Skype or e-mail, he may be playing Frisbee or coaching water polo.
